NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A league-high four USciences teams – men's and women's basketball, women's cross country and softball – have won the 2018-19 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Team Academic Award for having the highest team grade point average (GPA) in the league in their respective sports.
The four CACC Team Academic Award recipients were tied for the most in the conference with Jefferson and Goldey-Beacom.
The CACC also announced that University of the Sciences was the only school in the league to have 100 percent of its teams earn a 3.0 GPA.
Teams GPA's for the CACC Team Academic Awards were calculated for just the 2018-19 academic year and were not cumulative.
Women's basketball's and softball's 3.63 team GPA's were tied for the second-highest GPA's amongst the 16 winners, behind only Chestnut Hill's men tennis' 3.71.
Women's cross country's 3.59 GPA gave USciences three teams in the top-five amongst the 16 winners.
Men's basketball took home the award with a 3.39 GPA.
Notably, University of the Sciences golf came just .02 points shy of winner Post with a 3.40 GPA, while both women's track & field (3.38 GPA) and men's track & field (3.25) would have won the award were they eligible (NCAA Sport Sponsorship).
