NEW HAVEN, Conn. – University of the Sciences' Chris Anderson was awarded his first career Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Rookie of the Week award on Monday.
He is the first Devil to win CACC Rookie of the Week this season.
Anderson reached multiple times in all six games last week, recording multiple hits in 5-of-6. He batted .545 for the week (12-of-22), added six walks for an on-base percentage of .621, and had three extra-base hits – including his first collegiate home run – for a slugging percentage of .818. He scored and drove in a run in 5-of-6 games, finishing the week with nine runs and nine RBI.
Anderson began the week 7-for-16 with three walks in a four-game series with Goldey-Beacom, in which he scored four runs and drove in four more.
The freshman then nearly had a perfect day at the plate in Saturday's sweep of Caldwell, finishing 5-for-6 with three walks, five runs, five RBI, a double, a stolen base and his first career home run.
University of the Sciences baseball plays its only doubleheader of the week on Wednesday, hosting CACC North leader Dominican at 12 p.m.
