Men’s Tennis Takes Doubles Point; Gildea Wins at District of Columbia

WASHINGTON D.C. – The University of the Sciences men's tennis team took the doubles point, while Brandon Gildea won in singles play, to highlight the Devils' trip to the nation's capital to take on District of Columbia on Wednesday. 

Borna Markusic and Oscar Serra won their team-best third match together, 6-4 at the first flight, while Rakesh Chamala and Sahas Chandragiri defeated their third flight opponents 6-1 to win their first match together this season. 

USciences nearly swept doubles play, if not for Gildea and Jack Kosiorowski falling in a tiebreaker, 7-9, at the second flight. 

Gildea bounced back to drop just one game at No. 6 singles en route to winning his second straight match. 

Markusic forced a third set with a 10-8 triumph in a second set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles, before falling in the third set 3-6.  

Serra dropped two close sets, 7-5, 7-6 (5), at No 1 singles.

University of the Sciences hosts Jefferson for its home-opener on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
