Serra Wins Twice in Men’s Tennis’ Home-Opener

PHILADELPHIA – Oscar Serra won twice on the night, as the University of the Sciences men's tennis team opened its home schedule with a 5-2 loss to cross-city rival Jefferson on Thursday evening at the Hamlin Center. 

Serra now leads USciences with four singles and doubles victories after dropping just one game at No. 1 singles, while also teaming with Borna Markusic for a 6-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles.  

Heimraj Resaul also won in singles play, coming back from dropping the first set at the fourth flight, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5, to even his record at 2-2 on the year. 

Brandon Gildea was on the wrong of a three-setter, falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 5 singles to halt his two-match win streak. 

Notably, Nathaniel Remington made his collegiate debut for the Devils. 

University of the Sciences closes out its fall schedule when it hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
