Men’s Cross Country Places in Top-Half of Field at Season-Opening Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences men's cross country team began its 2019 season with a sixth place finish in the field of 13 teams at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship at Belmont Plateau on Saturday morning.  

Notably, it was the first meet for new Head Coach Yvonne Harrison. 

Improving on its seventh place finish from a year ago, USciences totaled 193 points to finish ahead of fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) teams Caldwell and Felician.  

Junior William Hallinan led the Devils by finishing in the top-fourth of the field of 121, placing 27th with a time of 29:35.4 on the 8K course.  

Sophomore Dylan Zuch set a new collegiate personal record on the morning by crossing in 30:22.0 to place in the top-third of the field in 40th.

Freshmen Christopher Kelly and Sian Poteat-Romero both ran their first career collegiate races, finishing in respective times of 32:26.8 and 35:02.7.

Junior Christopher Cardace crossed between them, navigating the course in 33:57.6. 

University of the Sciences takes three weeks off before competing at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park on Saturday, Sept. 28.
