PHILADELPHIA – Will Grillo led the University of the Sciences men's cross country team at Sunday morning's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship held at Belmont Plateau.
The freshman was the 11th rookie to cross amongst the 28 to run, navigating the 8K course in 30:07.08 - his fastest time at Belmont Plateau this year - to place 28th in the field of 82.
Sophomore Dylan Zuch (31:44.5) improved on his 58th-place finish as a freshman from last year, coming in 44th to narrowly miss out on a top-half-of-the-field finish.
Freshman Christopher Kelly also ran his fastest time at Belmont this year, 32:07.9, to cross 50th.
Rounding out the USciences' day was Sian Poteat-Romero, who finished his first CACC Championship in 37:34.0.
University of the Sciences did not place in the team standings as injuries allowed only four Devils to run, with five being needed to finalize a team score.
Wilmington won the team title with 39 points, 22 ahead of second-place Bloomfield.
USciences distance runners will now begin preparation for spring's track & field season.
