Five Different USciences Pairings Win Matches as Men’s and Women’s Tennis Open 2019-20 Season at TCNJ’s Doubles Kickoff Tournament

EWING, N.J. – The USciences men's and women's tennis teams got off to a winning start as five different pairings picked up victories at The College of New Jersey's (TCNJ) Doubles Kickoff Tournament on Saturday, the first day of the 2019-20 season.

Senior Karla Miletic and freshman Myra Anwar showed chemistry in their first-ever matches together, going 2-1 on the afternoon with wins over TCNJ (8-6) and Southern Virginia (6-0). The two came a tiebreaker away from a perfect 3-0 day, falling short 7-8 (4) to a duo from TCNJ.

On the men's side, Jack Kosiorowski won two matches, teaming with Sahas Chandragiri and Oscar Serra for separate 8-4 triumphs over pairs from TCNJ.

The pairings of Stephanie Mazurek and Danielle Paran and Julia James and Gabrielle Soriano also won on the first day, defeating respective opponents from Southern Virginia.

Notably, Paran's win moved her into a tie for seventh in program history with her 22nd career doubles victory.

Up next, the women's team hosts Le Moyne for its home-opener next Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m., before both the men and women head up to Flushing, N.Y. for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional Championship hosted at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from Sept. 13-16.
