Mazurek and Paran Pair for a Win on the First Day of Women’s Tennis’ Season

PHILADELPHIA – Stephanie Mazurek and Danielle Paran partnered for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles to highlight the University of the Sciences women's tennis team's season-opening loss to Le Moyne at the Hamlin Center on Saturday afternoon.  

Notably, with the result Paran moved into seventh in program history with her 22nd career doubles victory. 

Mazurek nearly won at No. 3 singles as well, coming back to from a 4-6 first-set loss to win the second 6-4 to force a third-set tiebreaker, where she would fall 7-10. 

Julia James also fell in three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 0-6, at the fifth flight.

University of the Sciences will now turn its attention to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional Championships hosted at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. from Sept. 13-16.
