Women’s Cross Country Kicks Off Season at Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship on Saturday Morning

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences women's cross country team kicked off its 2019 season at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship on Saturday morning at Belmont Plateau. 

Notably, it was the first meet for new Head Coach Yvonne Harrison. 

Senior Elizabeth Sauers paced the Devils with a 38th place finish in the field of 105 after navigating the 5K course in 22:50.2.

Upperclassmen Paige Jacobs and Olivia DeLorenzo returned to action with respective times of 24:21.8 and 24:40.3.  

Former women's tennis standout Elkanah Linder and freshman Katie Benincasa both ran their first career collegiate races, crossing back-to-back in 25:02.2 and 25:05.0.

USciences finished ahead of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Caldwell on the morning, accumulating 238 points. 

The Devils take three weeks off before competing at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park on Saturday, Sept. 28.
